We teach students the principals of engineering, applied physics, along with 3D design/printing, then have them engage in various engineering projects, including bridges, vehicles, levers, pulleys, gears, drives, and more! They'll take what they've learned over the first six weeks to then invent, build and compete in creative projects in the final two weeks!

Session 1
WED: Sep 09, 2020 - Oct 28, 2020 [02:00 PM - 03:30 PM]
Builders, Engineers & Inventors
Week 1:
Building Bridges 1: Students learn different types of bridges and begin to engineer a bridge that spans between two points and will hold weight.
Week 2:
Building Bridges 2: Students compete with their bridges from Week 1, adding weight to test their limits!
Week 3:
Race Car 3D Design: Students design car parts that will be printed and then used for their own race car.
Week 4:
Race Car 3D Printing: Students learn how 3D printers work and then utilize their designed car parts to race each other on a racetrack!
Week 5:
Pulleys & Levers: Students build basic mechanisms with levers that can be used for increasing an applied force or changing the direction of motion.
Week 6:
Gears & Drives: Students build basic gear to learn how they can reduce or increase speed, change force, or transfer motion from one position to another.
Week 7:
Simple Machines 1: Students take what they've learned in prior weeks to build and race a vehicle powered by elastic energy.
Week 8:
Simple Machines 2: Students invent and build a mechanism to lift an egg 1 ft off the floor without breaking it!
